DETROIT, MI – The streets of Southwest Detroit were alive with chants and calls for justice as hundreds  participated in the “No Kings” rally and march. The demonstration began with a march down Vernor Highway  and culminated in a powerful rally at Clark Park.

Organized by a coalition of local activists, the event  protested authoritarianism, police violence,

gentrification, and systemic inequality. The phrase “No   Kings” reflected a broader rejection of concentrated  power—whether political, corporate, or police.

At Clark Park, speakers addressed topics including immigration justice, housing rights, and community-led  safety. Local artists performed spoken word, cumbia, and hip-hop, while mutual aid groups handed out food,  water, and educational materials.

The event remained peaceful and community-focused, with organizers emphasizing long-term movement building and solidarity across Detroit.

The Michigan State Spartans are just one win away from the Final Four as they prepare for their Elite Eight matchup this weekend. After a dominant performance in the Sweet 16, Tom Izzo’s squad is locked in and ready to take on their next opponent.

The Michigan State Spartans will play the Auburn Tigers at 5:05 p.m. Sunday, March 30, in the Elite Eight, battling for the final berth in the Final Four.

MSU’s defense has been a key factor in their tournament success, along with clutch performances from standout players. The Spartans will need to bring their best against a tough Auburn squad as they look to punch their ticket to the national semifinals.

Tipoff is set, and excitement is building. Stay tuned for more updates as the Spartans continue their March Madness run!

For the Michigan State Spartans and Auburn Tigers, the Elite Eight matchup will come down to a few key factors:

Michigan State’s Keys to Victory

1. Defense & Rebounding – Tom Izzo’s teams thrive on tough, physical defense and crashing the boards. Controlling the glass will limit Auburn’s second-chance points.

2. Guard Play & Shooting – MSU’s backcourt needs to hit perimeter shots and limit turnovers against Auburn’s aggressive defense.

3. Experience & Coaching – Izzo has a proven track record in March, and his ability to make adjustments could be the difference late in the game.

Auburn’s Keys to Victory

1. Forcing Turnovers – The Tigers thrive on high-pressure defense, turning opponents’ mistakes into transition points. If they can speed up MSU, it could be a problem for the Spartans.

2. Three-Point Shooting – Auburn is dangerous from deep. If their shooters get hot, they can create separation and force MSU out of their game plan.

3. Interior Defense – The Tigers must protect the rim and challenge MSU’s inside scoring, especially in the paint and on putbacks.

This game will likely be a battle of styles—MSU’s disciplined, physical approach versus Auburn’s fast-paced, high-energy attack. Whichever team imposes its will and executes better down the stretch will punch their ticket to the Final Four.

Portland High Head Coach Jason Haid leads the Lady Raiders tonight in a district matchup with Ionia.

Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at Ionia High School.

The Lady Raiders are currently (11-1), (3-1) and riding a four game winning streak since falling to the defending State Champion Lansing Catholic Central squad nearly one month ago.

Tonight the Raiders fab four sister quartet in Malia and Lilly Thelen and Alexa and Kayla Webber who offer a one, two punch recipe of success on and off the ball, and it is keeping the team in the winners column.

“The Thelen sisters are our two leading scores,” Haid said. “One is a senior and the other is a sophomore.”

The sisters are making all the right moves as they are forcing defensive turnovers and pushing the ball in transition and finishing at the rim.

When they get the ball around the three point line the sisters are firing with precision knocking down multiple three pointers in a single game.

Against Olivet recently, the Lady Raiders shot 42 percent from downtown, forced 11 steals, grabbed 33 rebounds and one block shot.
